Valerie Samii, DVM, DACVR
A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiologists, Dr. Valerie Samii is also an associate professor of radiology at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Samii attended the University of California, Berkeley and received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1982. She completed her veterinary education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received the Student of the Year and Clinical Competency awards during her fourth year. She received academic scholarships in 1990 and 1991 and was inducted into the Phi Beta Honor Society. Dr. Samii was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.
She completed a small animal and surgery internship at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group from 1992 to 1993. From 1994 to 1997, she completed a radiology residency at the University of California, Davis. She went on to teach at UC-Davis from 1997 to 2000 and at the Ohio State University from 2000 to present.
Dr. Samii was named a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 1996. She is particularly interested in CT and MRI. She has published articles in a number of veterinary medical journals, including: Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Journal of Veterinary Medicine Research, Veterinary Radiology and Ultrasound, Veterinary Surgery, Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Theriogenology, Australian Veterinary Journal and Equine Veterinary Journal. She is a member of the American College of Veterinary Radiology and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Samii's animal companions include Ricki, a Labrador retriever, and three cats, Pinna, Cedrick and Ben. She enjoys hiking in her spare time.
